Malaysia Recovers Over RM61 Million in Social Security Funds Seized From Fraudsters Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In a significant victory against fraud, the Malaysian government has successfully recovered more than RM61 million in social security funds that were fraudulently claimed. The announcement was made by Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, who detailed the extensive investigation that led to the recovery. Minister Sim revealed that 679 cases of suspected benefit fraud were investigated across various social security schemes. He stated, "We are committed to crushing all these false claim syndicates because you are abusing, they are abusing the system of social security which protects vulnerable people." The investigations resulted in 383 cases (56.5%) being suspended, with a further 161 cases proposed for suspension. The successful recovery of these funds demonstrates the government's commitment to protecting the integrity of the social security system and safeguarding the funds intended for vulnerable citizens.
