PERKESO Saves RM61 Million in Social Security Funds Through Proactive Fraud Fight
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – June 3, 2025 – Malaysia's Social Security Organization (PERKESO) has successfully safeguarded RM61 million in social security funds in its fight against benefit fraud. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim announced this significant achievement, highlighting PERKESO's proactive approach. "PERKESO's efforts to combat benefit fraud are crucial to protecting the integrity of the social security system and ensuring funds reach those who truly need them," Sim stated. This proactive strategy involved investigating nearly 1200 cases of suspected fraud since 2020, resulting in 383 cases being suspended. This represents 56.5% of the total investigated cases. PERKESO's commitment to tackling this issue is evident in its ongoing efforts to recover wrongly paid allowances, ensuring the system's long-term sustainability. The fight against fraud continues, with losses from fraudulent claims still recorded in 2024. PERKESO's success underscores the importance of robust anti-fraud measures in protecting social security funds and upholding the integrity of the system.
