Malaysia's PERKESO Thwarts RM61 Million Fraud Scheme
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – June 3, 2025 – In a significant victory against fraud, Malaysia's Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) announced today that it has saved RM61 million in public funds. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong revealed that over the past five years, PERKESO investigated nearly 1200 suspected cases of fraudulent benefit claims. This led to the suspension of 500 cases, directly preventing the disbursement of the RM61 million. "Over the last five years, PERKESO investigated about 1,200 suspected fraud cases," Sim stated during a press conference. "As a result of that investigation, 500 cases were suspended for fraud, saving PERKESO over RM61 million." The success underscores PERKESO's commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring the integrity of its social security programs. This proactive approach serves as a model for other nations facing similar challenges.
