The Official Reason For Those iPhone 17 Scratches, According to Apple
We explore the technical flaw in Apple's MagSafe demo stands that resulted in scratches on the iPhone 17's screen.
A recent video circulating online has brought to light potential durability concerns regarding Apple's newly released iPhone 17. The video, created by tech enthusiast Tyler Morgan, demonstrates how easily the device's darker color variants can be scratched. In the footage, Morgan uses a set of keys to scratch the back of a black iPhone 17, revealing marks that, despite appearing to wipe away, leave permanent indentations. He states, "It leaves marks... I can see it." Morgan then proceeds to test an orange iPhone 17 Pro model, which also exhibits scratches and discolouration on its aluminum frame after being scraped. He highlights the discolouration, noting, "See that discolouration there." Morgan attributes these issues to the use of aluminum in the iPhone 17 Pro, contrasting it with the more robust titanium or stainless steel frames of previous Pro models. He advises consumers, "Be careful, get a damn case." The video has sparked discussion among consumers regarding the device's resilience in everyday use.
