
Six Arrested for Stealing TNB Transformer in Kuala Selangor
Kuala Selangor Transformer Theft: Six Arrested, One Still at Large Kuala Selangor, Malaysia – In a significant development, Malaysian authorities announced the arrest of six individuals in connection with the theft of an electricity transformer belonging to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). The incident occurred on May 25, 2025, in Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor. Police discovered the stolen transformer concealed within a lorry, hidden inside a container and covered with a canvas. According to Superintendent Azaharuddin Tajuddin, Chief of Police for Kuala Selangor, "The suspects, aged between 19 and 34, were apprehended following the discovery of three suspicious vehicles — a lorry, a van, and a motorcycle — which led police to the stolen transformer." Three of the suspects have prior criminal records, while one suspect remains at large and is currently being sought by authorities. All six were remanded for five days, beginning May 27, 2025, to assist with the ongoing investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code. The recovered transformer and related equipment have been returned to TNB.
