First Philippine Typhoon of 2025: LPA Intensifies, Heavy Rains Expected
MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos brace for the first typhoon of the year as a low-pressure area (LPA) intensifies in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to TV5 resident meteorologist Alvin Pura, "We are monitoring an LPA that has the potential to become our first typhoon of the year." The LPA, located approximately 945 kilometers east of the Eastern Visayas, is expected to strengthen and bring heavy rains across the country, particularly this weekend. Mr. Pura explains that the LPA's interaction with the Habagat will likely cause widespread rainfall. The potential typhoon, if it forms, will be named Auring. PAGASA continues to monitor the LPA and will issue updates as the situation develops. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
