Ghana's Mobile Data Prices to See Significant Increase
Ghana's Data Prices to Increase: AirtelTigo, Telecel, and MTN Announce Bundle Changes Ghana is set to see a significant increase in data prices across its major networks. Following a directive from Hon. Sam Nartey George, effective July 1st, 2025, AirtelTigo, Telecel, and MTN Ghana have announced changes to their data bundles. These changes come as a result of negotiations between the government and telecommunication companies. AirtelTigo will increase all its data bundles by 10%. Their popular GH¢400 bundle will see a considerable jump, rising from 195GB to 236GB. Similarly, Telecel's GH¢400 bundle will be increased from 90GB to 250GB. MTN Ghana will also increase its data bundles by 15%, and in a move welcomed by many consumers, they will reinstate their GH¢399 bundle, offering 214GB of data. "I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people," stated Hon. Sam Nartey George, highlighting the positive outcome of the negotiations. While the increases may be met with some consumer concern, the significant boosts in data allowances for the higher-value bundles suggest a move towards offering more value for money. The long-term effects of these changes on data affordability and access in Ghana remain to be seen.
