Ghanaian Data Prices Increase: Minister Announces New Rates for AirtelTigo, MTN, and Ghana Telecom Ghana's Minister of Communications and Digitalisation recently announced a price increase for mobile data packages across the country's major telecommunication networks. The announcement, made during a press conference, detailed significant changes that will impact millions of Ghanaians. AirtelTigo and Ghana Telecom will see a 10% increase in the cost of their data bundles. MTN subscribers will face a steeper 15% increase. The minister, in a statement, explained that "These increases are going to come at considerable cost to the network operators." He cited ongoing negotiations as the reason for the adjustments. Consumers will notice changes in bundle sizes as well. For example, the 400 GHS bundle from AirtelTigo will now provide 236 GB of data, while the 399 GHS bundle from Ghana Telecom will offer 214 GB. These changes are effective from July 1st, 2025. Despite the price increases, the minister expressed optimism, stating, "I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people." The adjustments are expected to be closely monitored for their impact on consumer behavior and the overall telecommunications market in Ghana.
