California Man Accuses Walmart of Reselling Spoiled Frozen Food from Pickup Ord…
A Lancaster, California shopper found moldy frozen foods in Walmart pickup order and raised concern over spoiled items being restocked.
Lancaster, CA – September 23, 2025 – A recent incident at a Walmart store in Lancaster, California, has sparked concerns regarding the quality of products provided through its pickup service. A customer, Therin McGuire, uploaded a video on September 21, 2025, showcasing several frozen food items received via a pickup order from the West Side Walmart on Valley Central Way.The video displays packages of Ore-Ida Crispy Tater Tots, hash brown potato patties, and Tyson Crispy Chicken Breast Strips. While the Ore-Ida tater tots package showed a "Best If Used By" date of October 4, 2026, and the Tyson chicken breast strips indicated March 12, 2026, the contents of the tater tots and hash brown packages were visibly covered in mold.McGuire expressed significant frustration, stating, "Walmart has found a way to sell their old products to us and not lose out on profits. Once again we as consumers are nothing but dollar signs to this corporate crime organization. This is not a coincidence, this is theft by intentionally selling old products that they would gamble on us not returning." He further claimed that a previous order also included spoiled hamburger patties. The customer alleges that employees fulfilling pickup orders are deliberately selecting products that are spoiled or nearing their expiration dates, suggesting a systemic issue rather than an isolated error. This incident raises questions about quality control and inventory management practices for online pickup services at large retail chains. Walmart has not yet issued a public statement regarding these specific allegations.
